The Abbey of Senanque 2000

The Abbey of Notre Dame de Senanque, near Gordes in Provence, was established by Cisterican monks in 1148, and took about 100 years to build. After being forced to leave several times, the monks have occupied Senanque since 1988. Both photographs here are of the Cloister, an enclosed courtyard leading from the church to a garden.
